Part of being courageous is building the capacity to overcome challenges. If we're going to help others, we must have the capacity to accomplish the superhero task. But it's not courageous to leap from a tall building if you can't fly. It's not courageous to stand in front of a moving train. These aren't courageous...they're just unwise and will get you killed. Be brave, but also understand which superpowers you have and which ones you don't.
And remember, strength isn't always about muscles. There are lots of ways to be a superhero. Sometimes we use our words or other skills to help others. Knowing what to say and how to say it takes skill and practice as well. Find your superpowers and develop them so you can save the world!
Being a superhero can be scary. If you've never done something before, how do you know you can do it? By giving it your best effort. We get a little stronger each time we push ourselves to go a little farther. If you can only lift 100 pounds, you don't need to try to lift 300 pounds right away. But push yourself to lift a little more than you can lift today, and your capacity will grow. Courage is the willingness to push yourself and confidence is the knowledge you gain when see you can do it. As soon as you can lift 110 pounds, you don't need courage to do that anymore. But you'll need courage to try lifting 120 pounds, until you can do that.
Getting stronger or better at something simply takes work. There's no way around it. So even if you tried to lift 110 pounds and couldn't, don't give up! Try again! If you can't do that, try a smaller weight. But don't give up! We have natural limits to all of our skills. We can only push our superpowers so far...and how far is different for everyone. Even the strongest person in the world has a limit on their strength. But when we're determined, we find out we can go farther than we originally believed.
